A St. Augustine Getaway: Our Stay at the Renaissance Hotel

We went to St. Augustine for a little time away together. We came home talking about its history, a beautiful hotel, and a restaurant we would happily return to.
A couple of weeks ago, my wife and I had the opportunity to escape our everyday routine and explore this remarkable Florida city. We both loved it. There is so much character here, so much history to discover, and plenty of reasons to slow down and enjoy your surroundings.

One of the first things that caught our attention was the impressive Castillo de San Marcos. Seeing that great stone fortress immediately gives you a sense of how different St. Augustine is. Founded in 1565, it is the oldest continuously occupied European established settlement in the continental United States a history that makes exploring the city especially fascinating.
For us, it was a wonderful setting for a getaway as a couple.
Our stay at the Renaissance St. Augustine Historic Downtown Hotel made the experience even better. The hotel’s elegant architecture and interiors fit beautifully with the atmosphere of the city, and its location made it a convenient base for our visit.

What stood out most was how comfortable we felt there. Our room was spacious and inviting, with the kind of atmosphere that makes you happy to return after spending time exploring. The whole experience felt polished and premium, while still being welcoming and relaxing.

Then came one of the highlights of our trip: Castillo Craft Bar + Kitchen, the hotel’s restaurant.
I can honestly say that our meal there was one of the best I have had in a long time. We have enjoyed plenty of delicious food here in Florida, so that is not something I say lightly. This restaurant really stood out.

The food was spectacular, and the experience became one of our favorite memories of the visit. If I were giving it a personal score, it would be an easy 100 out of 100. It is the kind of place you find yourself recommending as soon as someone mentions they are planning a trip to the area.

If you are considering a visit to St. Augustine, the Renaissance St. Augustine Historic Downtown Hotel is absolutely worth considering. We loved its beauty, its location, and the comfort of our room.

And whether you stay at the hotel or elsewhere, keep Castillo Craft Bar + Kitchen on your list. Based on our experience, it is an excellent choice for a memorable meal.
Our little escape gave us exactly what we were hoping for: time together, a city full of history and culture, and a few wonderful discoveries. St. Augustine won us over and this hotel and restaurant were a big part of why.
